Update on Food Not Bombs
I don't think anyone in this LJ community is really doing Food Not Bombs anymore. Also, the listserv is probably an even more ineffective way of trying to communicate with active members.
As far as I know, a girl named Haley is doing FNB out of her house. You can e-mail her at firstname.lastname@example.org and ask her what is up with it.
Well, that is all really. I just thought I'd mention this because I did get a call from someone who wanted to help out up until sometime in August, but I never called her back because I really had no real idea what was going on (at that point, actually, I did not think Haley was really doing feedings). I don't want this to happen again, and I want interested persons to get in touch with the right people! I love Food Not Bombs, and even if I'm not doing it right now, I'm almost positive I will be doing it again sometime in the future.
Stay classy, guys.

not really related to fnb, but....currently searching for a roomate here in gainesville
hello everyone! i am going to be renting at a house here in gainesville starting early august, and we have one empty room! and need just one more roomate! (or two if you are to bring a living partner) the cool thing is, the total rent is only 630$ a month, so...split between 4 or 5 people, that is only about 160$/130$ a month! and that is cheeeeeeeeeeep! :)
so, is anybody looking for a place to stay???
if so, just email me: email@example.com
or comment me back here

pot, not the green kind
dear gainesville food not bombs,
i believe you have my pot. its big and could probably fit 3 small babies or 10 million pounds of potatoes.
i am writing you not to ask for it in return, but to supply you with A LID.
things in big pots, rather HUGE pots, cook and heat better and faster with lids.
so contact me if you have it so i can reunite the two and there can be happy fnb food.
that is all.

The Death of Gainesville Food Not Bombs
We have a dire situation here in Gainesville, Florida...
Every Saturday in Gainesville, the local FNBs are suppose to share in the downtown plaza at 4:00pm ; but for the last six months, nobody, I mean NOBODY has been showing up to feed there ; instead, those poor homeless and other indigent folks get the runaround and a great deal of flimsy excuses that don't hold water concerning the absences of the Gainesville " Food Not Bombs " gang.
This sorry excuse of a spokesperson named Jennifer ( firstname.lastname@example.org ) always claims that the Saturday crew DOES show up, albeit late, but according to the street people who congregate in the plaza, they haven't even SEEN any Food Not Bombs there in SIX MONTHS !
This Jennifer does not take inquiries or constructive criticisms well, for she snarls back and insults those who dare question her. She told one person on the listserve to
" put your actions where your damn mouth is " and when he replied was no longer interested in volunteering for FNBs, she told him " good riddance ".
I. myself, can vouch for those misfortunates in the plaza who go hungry every Saturday, because I have driven around the plaza a few Saturdays, starting at 3:00pm
to 6:00pm, every 15 minutes and saw NO sign of a feeding.
The current crew at Gainesville Food Not Bombs has been asked by numerous people
( including former members ) to hang it up if they can't do a better job and stop giving ALL Food Not Bombs a bad name.
I suggest they change the name of Gainesville Food Bombs to Bullshit Not Bombs.

don't be a stranger!
so, nicole and i haven't done a food not bombs in a while. they've been going on every week as far as i know, but in a rather unorganized fashion. i guess this week, both of us (and probably julien) along with a young woman named beth are going to be all doing it. if you want to join us - feel free to do so! it's at the catholic worker's house (218 NW 2nd Ave), and we'll start converging with the food at around 12-ish.... we'll try to be more punctual this time.

Saw Eric at the po jam last night. He says things look good, donations ought to resume, possibly even this weekend.
Recruited a new volunteer at work today. She's already scheduled to work tomorrow afternoon, our first feeding, but says she'd be interested in helping out next weekend and beyond. There's another girl I work with that I hear might be interested, haven't talked with her yet.
I'm pretty excited about tomorrow. My first FNB in ages. Current Mood: rap

fnb fnb fnbbb
hello, I am trying to get Ben to call the church before Saturday. I'm reminding him, but i dont want to get to the point where i'm burdensome, yknow? but hopefully he'll pull it off.
can anyone help this saturday if we get a kitchen? i know i can help out for sure, and i'll make an FNB flyer and try distributing them because you know - some people coming into gainesville might be interested, and according to a listserv e-mail, that's quite true. i only want to respond to Jenny when we actually fuckin' get a kitchen, yknow? FNB will prevail. my heart just sinks when i think about all the cartons of chocolate soymilk, organic hot dog buns, and etc. that get wasted every few days - just getting saturdays back up would be heartening.
352 316 3201 is my number.

food not bombs?
So, what's up with this?
I suppose we're going to try and find a church place of some sort, but Ben said that he'd cover it. He's not the most responsible with these type of responsibilities, so I'm doubting he's doing/did anything about it - nor is he here for this week.
Did FNB happen on Saturday?
I was thinking about just hauling our load to the community plaza, but my parents didn't leave their keys so I'm kind of helpless in that department. This is a longshot, but if you're free for today I'm thinking it might be in good karma to do such :) And save a bottle of extra virgin olive oil for me if we get it! (another long shot)
Is FNB happening this Saturday?
Ben got this guy named "Cooper" (from Orlando FNB) and two of his friends to help us. He told me he helped me the Saturday before last Saturday. I don't have his number, nor do I have any idea who this guy is.
